Indiana Edu Fix: 3-year college degrees

Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels suggests that 3-year college degrees could help get more students to graduate quickly.  Not only does it gets students into the job market more quickly, but this approach could save students as much as $25,000 by eliminated the 4th year.

Student-Loan Bill Reduces Community Colleges Funding

While community colleges are getting $2-billion in funding from the bill, college presidents are disappointed that the number is lower than expected. It is far less money than the $12-billion that President Obama had proposed last year and $10-billion that was in an earlier bill.  The bill now heads to the Senate.

Post Graduation Job Prospects

Graduating students are now facing a bleak job market.  About 2.4 million students are graduating with either bachelor’s or associates degrees. With 9.9% unemployment, these job seekers must compete with graduates from the last few years who are out of work, as well as unemployed workers with more experience.
